OK I seem to be on fire today with random threads but just wondered what/how people use the pedals when driving?

Do you trail brake alot going into the turns?

I decided to post this as I had a few comments last night while in the lambos as to how I was keeping the car from spinning out when I got it a little out of shape.

The answer is im using the brake pedal as much as the thottle pedal when exiting a corner (and on entry too but I will go into that in a sec)

I will try and explain cos its kind of something I just do and not really think about that much until last night.

When entering a corner I will start braking, if I think I have entered in too hot or hit the brakes a little late to make the corner properly I will initially hit the brakes as usual and then start blipping the throttle pedal while still on the brakes which i find just settles the car down to beable to make the turn better (I cant possibly give a reason to how this works but it does) Also while on the subject of slowing the car down into heavy braking zones I find trying out different downchange times in the gears seems to give a positive or negative response to slowing the car down. For example if you are flat out on a straight. Say your in 6th gear and you need to be in 3rd to take the turn coming up and you have left it too late to make the turn properly but you (obviously) still want to try and make the turn as you would usually then try and change down 2 gears as normal but leave the final downchange till you are just about to enter the corner and change there. This should make the car turn in momentarily on the entry to the turn.

The Lambos were very twitchy and to start with I found my driving style didnt suit the twitchyness of these beasts but after some practice I guess you can fine tune pedal movements and wheel movement usage to help drive a different class or type of car.

So the secret to not spinning them for me anyway was to use both pedals at the same time. for example if the car started to go into a slide that was uncontrollable with just throttle blipping or wheel movements alone then i would slam on the throttle and the brakes at the same time (try out different amounts as I am not really sure exact amounts of each) This would bring the front of the car round. Although not a quick tecnique in terms of ultimate pace it stopped me losing the car completely and allowing others to pass cos of my over agressive driving style (if you can call it that!!) So slam both pedals on and the car would lose speed but not spin allowing me to carry on without a scratch on the car, but maybe just some discolouration to my underpants!!

Question, how is it you put the steering wheel through more stress in a straight line than most people do in a series of 83 (approx) hairpins???

Ummmm good question. Its not just the wheel either, the pedals (re:above) are also being used more than you think.

@Jeff if you press the right hand pedal down further you will find the car will accelerate, this may help with your Limerock lap times....

Ahh the right pedal i get it now, thanks for that. Although that does beg the question.........why are you 4th? Laughing
