OK I got this idea the other day when talking to someone (can t remember who) but to mix it up with regards to what tracks/cars are used. Cos I feel (and correct me if im wrong) that the cars/track selection for track and car of the month (mainly track actually) are slightly hindered by corporate people and their track and car knowledge and skills (or lack of...)
And the lambo event was proof that more difficult tracks are just too much for randomers to handle. There was some magazine guy or something there and he was struggling quite alot (or the guy that came with his wife or sister ot what ever it was!!) Where everyone else (regular members) managed pretty well in the circumstances.
So my idea is that to allow more technical tracks (like Nords or Lienz) to be used as track of the month then you could offer a different track per month to corporate people than to the regular members. Cos lets face it the average kids party or average randomer that walks through the door just wants to drive something or anything. If they are any good and want to come back then they could try the member track/car selection to see where they are in terms of pace.
I think this would work more with regulars as they have more time to practice and come in more than once in the month.
I then had the thought of which group comes in the most? Would a class C driver come in as much as a class A driver? probably not no....So then to make it fair would the track be different fror class C and A? it all starts to get a little hectic when changing around tracks for different classes and corporate people. And then offcourse there is the "win class A or B and get free entry into 1st monday"....How would that work with these different tracks and first monday would need to be the same track for all classes.
I then started to think about member voting for track and cars and thought it would be quite good but then went against that idea as part of the fun is just getting given a car/track (that you may not like that much) and trying to get the most out of it.
Im sure there are many factors from a race directors point of view (or software/hardware point of view) that I havnt taken into consideration so if you could comment on this idea I would love to hear what ya all gotta say.
If I think of anything else I will add it soon.
P.S After exploring all the possibilities it all starts to get very complicated...Can you think of any easier way to do it? The only reason for this post is to see some more difficult tracks get used as track of the month cos I can see Nords was last used in like 2005 or something? And thats insane cos its the best track in the world...EVER. And you guys are the only race centre in the country and I cant bare to see this track get neglected!!!! It needs to be used and abused Over and over again...

Mark ... You have in there a good summary of many things that we have discussed and done over the years. To date the only one that gets a good turn out is the monthly hot lap as we now run it.
But ... If you have a succinct plan for something new that other members back you up on then we will be happy to make it happen!

OK so what are the chances to see Nords be used as a hotlapping track of the month the way things are at the moment. I guess everyone can agree on the fact that it would not be logical or safe to send out a 9 year old round there cos he would be doing one lap for like 1 hour!! So it is obviously more for the experienced drivers who have more time to practice.
The other way at looking at it could lap records not be set outside of the month that the track is being used for? Not just for nords but for every track? I dont know how much effort it would take on the software part to make this happen? But I would do lap after lap after lap round nords if I thought my time was actually gonna count towards something by the end of it... _________________

Oh RE: my above post, I might be able to get hold of a peice of software that my friend has developed and made by himself that allows you to choose car, track like you have now but has other benifits too. If your interested then I will ask him if he wouldnt mind you guys using it....(For rfactor only though)
Not sure if you can view this page if your not signed up to this website but this is what he made...and this community has like 2000 members so its not some shitty piece of software for some shitty little community...

Ive had a similar idea for a while, having the "simpler" track of the month with class A,B and C like we normaly do, but also having a "wild card" track and car combo each month which can be mental like the lambo's at Lienz.
So...
- Keep the system we have at the moment (Class A.B,C at a easy but challenging track). As im sure we all agree that this months track and car combo has been awsome! Both in a fun way and the fact that the times are all so close!!! Ive also found that first timers and kiddies have really got to grips with this track and car combo very quickly and had great fun.
And...
-Have a "Wildcard" track, which can be called "Challenge of the month" or something. This means you can be really adventurous with regards to tracks and cars without the risk of spoiling any first timers experience. Ive also found that some guys got abit fustrated with this months track (because its so close!), so a alternative track to let of abit of steam may be a welcome relief and new challenge!
