Track of The Month – May 2018

Oulton Park (Island), Great Britain

The Race Centre’s Track of the Month for May is the Oulton Park Island circuit in Cheshire.

Located on a former country estate, Oulton Park is a 2.3 mile circuit, having held racing events at the track from as early as 1953. The circuits’ natural undulations and blind crests, in addition to the fast sequences make Oulton Park a tough place to race, with drivers requiring supreme car control and bravery through the corners in order to succeed.

Come to The Race Centre this month to see if you are up to the test of Oulton Park.

Watch the video below to see a lap of Oulton Park onboard with Colin Turkington.

60 Years of the BTCC

This year marks 60 years since the inception of the British Touring Car Championship.

Formerly known as the British Saloon Car Championship, the BTCC is known for it’s wheel-to-wheel racing and unpredictable nature. The rationale of the touring car championship was always to provide a competition arena for the production cars of that time, with the rules constantly changing to align with the technical advancements made over the years. This has provided us with many iconic eras, and vehicles, during the championship’s history, including the Ford Sierra RS500, BMW M3 and the Lotus Cortina, just to name a few.

The series continues to maintain it’s interest from manufacturers as well as its passionate fans, and with 32 cars lined up this year, the BTCC will continue to be viewed as “motor racing as its most competitive”.

We hope you enjoy this fantastic circuit and the cars we have chosen!
